Research and Background
TregoED strategies evolved from ground-breaking research conducted in the 1950’s by Ben Tregoe & Chuck Kepner. While working for the RAND corporation, Tregoe & Kepner observed that even with access to the same training and information, some people consistently made better choices. Tregoe & Kepner ultimately left RAND to pursue their own research. Their findings and conclusions included the following:
Tregoe and Kepner went on to found Kepner-Tregoe Inc., an international management consulting firm, in 1958. Since then, millions of people in over 1,400 of the world’s most influential organizations have been trained in these same thinking strategies. Some of these organizations include: Federal Express, Honda, The J.M. Smucker Company, British Airways, Johnson & Johnson, Boeing, Corning, NASA. In 1993, the non-profit Tregoe Education Forum began adapting these same processes for use in K-12 schools and districts.
